Information on campus clubs, organizations

By Mary Caitlyn Wright

Northwest has many clubs and organizations for students to participate in. This article gives some information about a few of the clubs and organizations on campus.

There are other organizations and clubs for students to participate in other than just ones that are attached to the program the student is studying.

Students should be sure to speak with instructors and their adviser regarding clubs they may want to try out, so they do not miss out on any experiences or deadlines to be in the organization.

Phi Theta Kappa

PTK is an international scholastic and leadership honor society for a two-year college. Students must have an overall GPA of 3.5 and 12 transferable hours taken at Northwest (not including remedial classes). PTK members can be awarded scholarships at universities throughout the state.

Advisers are Dawn Stevens, Kristen Watson, Carroll Huebner and Judy Barham.

Ranger Book Club

The Ranger Book Club is an organization created for people who have a love for literature. It is open to all students who love reading and discussing literature.

If you would like to join the book club or for more information go to the library.

Northwest Players Club

The Northwest Players Club (Theater Club) was created for individuals with a great interest in theater.

Their goals are to help people learn the theater experience and to teach students dramatic techniques.

The theater department is now in the process of practicing for the fall production of  “The Boys Next Door” by Tom Griffin. To see this production it will begin on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
